Quick Overview of the advanced features offered by Dynamics 365 Business Central

In our last blog, we looked at the top 5 reasons to migrate from Dynamics GP to Dynamics 365 Business Central. In this blog, we will look at the critical differences between Dynamics GP and Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Dynamics GP vs. Dynamics 365 Business Central

  • Advanced User Interface:  Business Central has an intuitive, web-enabled user interface, flaunting the best practices of user adoption.  Your users will effortlessly maneuver across the system and drill back to the transaction details in a breeze. In addition, the user interface has the option of personalization so that you can accommodate the way you work.
  • Gone are the days of hung up Batches:  Business Central eradicates the trouble of experiencing hung up batches. What’s more, you do not have to take the pain of running Reconciles and Checklinks.
  • Leverage the Power of Dimensions:  A big challenge for the companies using Dynamics GP is that account segmentation requires a massive chart of accounts. Dynamics 365 Business Central comprises a chart of accounts that is much smaller as it lists only the main segment. You have the liberty of adding unlimited dimensions to the Business Central Chart of Accounts. This enables you to slice and dice financial statements in infinite ways.
  • Gone are the days of Financial Series Post: Unlike Dynamics GP, Dynamics 365 Business Central is an online data processing solution. This means that business transactions automatically integrate with General Ledger, and you do not require Financial Series Post.
  • Master Record Edits:  Many a time, it happens that one of your users mistakenly give the wrong Customer ID to a customer. To rectify this problem in Dynamics GP, you have to run a utility that changes the master records to the correct ID. On the other hand, in Dynamics 365 Business Central, all you have to do is update the record on the fly on the Customer Card, and your job is done.
  • Edit in Excel:  Dynamics GP users are accustomed to reaching out to the IT team for mass record updates. However, Dynamics 365 Business Central puts updates in the hands of the users, allowing them to export lists to Microsoft Excel, update the records, and publish it back to Business Central. This is one of the most excellent features in Dynamics 365 Business Central.

In our next blog, we will answer the two most important questions Dynamics GP businesses have the process and cost of migration from Dynamics GP to Dynamics 365 Business Central.
